Welcome to the first post on the Mar Vista Art Website!
On this website you can find art from some of the most talented
and creative young artists in Southern California.
Guided by their art instructor Mr. Miceli, the students at Mar Vista learn how
to paint, draw and sculpt like young professionals, mixing art history, modern and classical techniques and the educational philosophy that all children have innate abilities to be
confidently empowered through visual arts.
Please do enjoy our student's work and come back soon
because Mr. Miceli will be updating the website daily.
Stacks of air dry clay, roughly 25 lbs. worth. Hmmm, I do love a good stack of clay.
This is one of my favorite books on the market. Loaded with great drawing exercises and
ways to be creative, "Let's Make Some Great Art", challenges children
to be expressive and not to fear using the pencil to create something great.
Henri Matisse Poster
Donated by the docents at LACMA during our 5th graders' field trip to the museum,
I couldn't wait to install this onto our studios wall.
Georgia O'Keeffe's Flower Poster

Visual Aids
Sculptures from Around the World.
I try to incorporate using the laptop projector and or document camera in my lessons
to serve as great visual motivations for our students before, during and after the art lesson.
